Have you ever wanted to own an electric car? or have you ever wanted to drive a Porsche 911? I wanted both, so I decided to build one. This blog is here to document my journey as I convert a 2002 Porsche 911/996 Carrera 2 from a gas guzzler to a completely electric vehicle - not a hybrid!

ReplyDeleteHiKurt I've been convrting gascars to electric for 20 years now and am doing one like yours right now ( can be seen at greenshedconversionsev.com in the summer of 2015 section. Over the years people have asked about using an automatic tranny and I have said its not a good Idea, but never had any real numbers to back t up , If your 850 watts per mile is true than saying It will take twice the power to use a auto tranny will be close. I had a 11' motor in my first 928 porshe and got 300w per mile with lead acid batteries my 1969 porshe 912 used even less. but it had no tranny , i used a rav 4 rear and hooked the motor up right to the rear. Saw the burned hand , been there , its worse than it look s i know , seems to cook the meat and the black smoke dosn't wash off . You've done some nice work but the auto is realy hurting you. .
