Have you ever wanted to own an electric car? or have you ever wanted to drive a Porsche 911? I wanted both, so I decided to build one. This blog is here to document my journey as I convert a 2002 Porsche 911/996 Carrera 2 from a gas guzzler to a completely electric vehicle - not a hybrid!

Rear wheel well battery brackets

While waiting for the motor and adapter parts, I've been working on battery mounting systems.  Today I was able to design and build some aluminum brackets to hold 8 cells (2 packs) behind each of the rear wheel wells for a total of 16 100AH cells = 4 packs.  I used 1/8" thick, 1" wide aluminum strips and 1"x1" aluminum angle.  I used a combination of rivets and machine screws as fasteners.
