Have you ever wanted to own an electric car? or have you ever wanted to drive a Porsche 911? I wanted both, so I decided to build one. This blog is here to document my journey as I convert a 2002 Porsche 911/996 Carrera 2 from a gas guzzler to a completely electric vehicle - not a hybrid!

Inspection Complete - Passed!

I made it to the DMV Inspection site today and passed my inspection.  They were mad that I *ruined* a Porsche, but I didn't want to argue.  They really only looked at a few things:  VIN through windshield, VIN under hood, and VIN on door.  They signed the papers and let me leave.

A lot of B.S. for nothing.

  1. Hey Kurt. Sweet ride. Congrats on the DMV pass. The Santa Monica DMV was quite intrigued with my converted Porsche, without any negative judgment. I assume they immediately updated your registration to reflect MP (motive power) as E (electric). I did the same, expecting it would allow me to obtain a CAV sticker without much trouble. Not the case. My travails might be of interest if you are trying to gain EV privileges from your state:
