Have you ever wanted to own an electric car? or have you ever wanted to drive a Porsche 911? I wanted both, so I decided to build one. This blog is here to document my journey as I convert a 2002 Porsche 911/996 Carrera 2 from a gas guzzler to a completely electric vehicle - not a hybrid!

Separation complete!

It took 3 different attempts to get the pieces separated.  The first T45 Torx bit that I purchased was too long for two of the bolts on the bottom side.  I ended up purchasing a 2nd T45 bit that went to a 8mm hex -- I then used my vise grips to hold the bit in the narrow cavity.  That was enough to get the final 2 bolts removed.  With all the bolts out, it was a few simple tugs to get the engine and transmission separated.  With those separated, I removed the coupler plate that mounts between the engine and trans.  This coupler plate will be shipped to the machinist that will create my new electric motor mounting plate.  The next step is to remove the torque converter from the engine shaft.  I've read a lot online and have not been able to find the correct solution yet.  Hopefully some of the folks at Rennlist or Renntech can help me through this pinch!
